Self-Care Tips: Learn To Put Yourself First

Hey my loves ! Welcome to another post. This week I am going to be talking about something very important to me and that is SELF-CARE. In life, sometimes we get so caught up in things we forget to take care of what is most important and that is ourselves. Today, I'll be sharing some self-care tips with you guys because at the end of the day, If you're not good, you can't be good for anybody else !

Make Time For Yourself

I am not going to lie this is one I struggle with a lot, but it makes a difference if you take some time out yourself. if you happen to be short on time and you hardly ever treat yourself the make time to have a nice dinner, go to your favorite place, or a class you wanted to take for the longest, and put it in your calendar ! Do not just say you are going to do it but actually write it down, and do NOT cancel.

Self-care doesn't always have to mean looking good. For instance, I go to my internship every Friday, but during my break I like to treat myself to my favorite chicken wings at Industry City, eat, listen to music, and enjoy my time being alone. During this time, I like to just turn off my phone and just be aware of my surroundings and take a minute to just be in the moment. At the end of the day, when I am on my way home on the train, I like to silence my phone, and listen to music after a long day. When I get home, I just crash. Taking time to myself to just relax and clear my thoughts is necessary so I don't go crazy. Now, you don't have to do what I do, but make sure you are taking sometime to yourself during the day to just relax and be one with yourself.

Meditate

Some people look at the word meditate and try to make it difficult when it is the simplest thing you can do. Anyone can benefit from meditation. The more stressed you are, the greater the difference you can experience. It is not complicated at all ! You can literally spend a total of five minutes doing it. It has been proven that meditation improves your emotional health, lowers stress levels, and can even help improve your sleep. If you do not know where to start, find a quiet spot, close your eyes, and find a yoga instrumental to meditate to. If that is difficult you can try an app called Calm :)

Have a Skincare Routine

I don't know about you, but I always find a super good skin care routine to be therapeutic ( I will be sharing mine soon). Find a facial mask, whatever works with your skin of course and relax for 15-20 minutes ! You will feel so relaxed and your skin will thank you too !

Do An Emotional Check-In

You may be the type of person who doesn't like to talk about their feelings to others. Maybe your favorite person to talk to isn't available - have an emotional check-in with yourself by yourself. I like to journal and it is a great tool for emotional growth. If you've never done it before it might seem strange, if it's something you've never done before.

Writing down all your thoughts, your feelings, your questions, your plans, your personal fears can bring so much clarity into your life. This helps even more if you tend to get overwhelmed at times.

Be Kind To Yourself

Often times we are our own biggest critics, but we have to learn to be kind to ourselves. If something did not workout the way you wanted it to, instead of criticizing yourself be nice and look at the bright side of things. Look at what you did well in that situation. Instead of calling yourself an idiot, say something like "I'll try better next time." The world can be cruel sometimes, don't be cruel to yourself too.

That is all for now my loves ❤️ Remember to take of yourselves 😘 Let me know if any of the tips work for you !
